Pose For My Camera

Lately, I’ve been thinking about hobbies and inspiration. For quite some time now I’ve been wanting to explore photography. Why?

Because pictures remember what the mind may forget, pictures savor the taste left from a moment or an instance, pictures create a story without needing words, pictures can trick time like only we wish we could.

Last week, my best friend Shakia’s sister, Courtney, had a fashion show, sponsored by Expressions Barber Studio.

“Fashion Headz Presents: Life’s a Label Fashion Show”

I thought, what better way to debut my photography hobby than at a fashion show? I get there, put the camera around my neck (I borrowed my aunts Cannon PC1680) and minutes later I become the official photographer of the event! Turns out the photographer canceled because of all the roads closed due to the Pope’s visit to Philadelphia, PA. Funny how things work, right?

Soon after that I zoned out and got to work.

I took some awesome shots of designs by:
Black Star Fashion: Designer – Keyosha
DBS Fashion: Designer – Shawn B.

The event was a huge success and a great time. Courtney did a great job as the creative director managing about 15 models, setting up the space, getting a DJ, catering the event, and making sure everything went smoothly and according to plan.

Courtney promoting her ItGirl Inc. franchise.

I’m super grateful for the opportunity. I discovered how much I enjoy being behind the camera and capturing that perfect moment. I’m excited to see where this new adventure takes me.

What’s your new hobby?

I am absolutely loving it! I’ve been taking that camera with me everywhere! I plan on purchasing one for my own and then I’ll be really unstoppable! Thanks! I’m super proud of the way the pictures came out because the lighting wasn’t the best throughout the event.

Just as important as capturing the photos, don’t forget to print some so you have a physical copy. I have so many photos in old computers and or phones I wish I knew how to retrieve.

That’s a good tip thank you! I planned on buying several USB’s as well as an external hard-drive. I have so many pictures I can’t afford to lose.

I’m currently using a Cannon. However, it’s not mine so I’m going to look into inexpensive good cameras to buy. I welcome any suggestions! 🙂
